Thank you Michelle for being my inspiration

It's 2017!

Omg I can't believe how quickly 2016 ended. It almost seems like a blur outside of the dismay concerning the presidential elections.

But, I am not here to talk politics, I am here to shine some light in someone's life. The point of creating this blog was to help others know that it is okay to dream. The other purpose is to serve as a beacon of light in this world and hopefully inspire someone else to be a light as well.

I know I haven't written a blog in a while and I purposely would convince myself not to because I wasn't getting the followers I wanted and I felt like I had nothing good to say, but after reading a blog my very close friend Michelle written about starting her journey to health and wellness I realize, each moment we step outside ourselves and do the uncomfortable, something great happens. So, thank you Michelle, for always being a motivation to me. Now, I am back and ready to challenge you all to dream!

Yes, I know that seems like a small task, but something I have learned in the past few weeks is that dreaming can serve a purpose that is greater than ourselves.

Also, why go through life with no dream/vision/goal in mind?

Some of you are afraid to dream because you believe your desires are insignificant, you don't believe your dreams will ever become a reality, or you have experienced your dreams shattering to pieces and you have been too afraid to put them back together again

. The common dominator for why you won’t or have stopped dreaming is fear/doubt. Don't let fear paralyze your dreams.

This year, I want to give you a secret to how to walk into how to dream again... Change your mind!

A new begging always comes about with change, and for us as people we don't change until our minds change.

The mind is a powerful weapon that controls your very essence/character, why? Because the mind also controls the heart (let's not think too much into science here lol).

What's in your heart will manifest itself into your reality.

So, if you're afraid to go back to school, then that fear in your heart, if you ponder on it long enough, will hinder you from going back to school, that's just one of the many examples on how strong our mind is.

The mind gathers what we believe in our hearts and causes it to become true in our everyday life. And I know we love saying, "New year, new me." But have you ever thought that perhaps nothing has changed (no matter how many years have passed) because you haven't changed?

Yes, it is possible to block your own self from dreaming, from pursuing greatness in your life and from reaching new heights.

Now changing your mind is not an easy thing. But if you take every moment of everyday to challenge yourself sooner or later your mind will begin to alter your perception about yourself and everything around you.

Catch that I said your perception changes, your situation/problem, however, may be the same but the way you perceive it changes. And you can respond to life differently.

So here are a few quick steps to changing your mind:

1. Find the positive in every situation

2. Find a hobby that makes you happy an find time to do that daily.

3.Say out loud "I am worthy and loved by God" everyday (some of you have a hard time changing your thought process because you are so focused on who doesn’t accept you, or what others may think; no matter what others do or say, you are loved by God and he thinks you are so valuable and precious).

4. Listen to inspirational/motivational music/podcasts/videos

5. Read positive quotes

6. Speak to a counselor

7. Get an accountability partner (someone you can talk to about your journey and they can keep you accountable)

8. Pray

9. Read the bible

10. LASTLY, accept that there will be somethings in this life you cannot change, there are experiences you have had that may have broken you, people may treat you bad, and the journey to changing your mind is hard. It requires consistency and discipline but it’s doable and so worth it.

Your dreams, desires, goals, talents, gifts, etc.… are so important to not only you, but also important for someone else in this world. Don’t hide yourself trying to accommodate what this world think of you or try to convince you to be, you are uniquely and wonderfully made. Don’t be afraid to shine, you were meant to so someone can see your light in the midst of darkness.

My dream is to use this blog to continue to inspire people.

Sincerely, T'keyah
