God Sees Me!

I’ve gone most of my life believing that God saw everyone else except me.
I knew he was real and that He sent Jesus to die for our sins, but I didn’t believe He cared for ME, in a personal way. There was a huge disconnect between the God I learned about at church and the God I had no communion with outside of church service.
Something in me despised how God would and could move in everyone else’s life but somehow could pass me by.
It wasn’t until recently I received this revelation that God sees me. He knows me. He called me by name and knitted me together in my mother’s womb, he knows the number of hairs on my head (Psalm 139:13 & Luke 12:7) (….I have a lot of hair).
Honestly, hearing that God sent his son to die for me didn’t really phase me, matter of fact I felt like “I didn’t ask him to do that” or “well, that’s great, but he made that decision, not me”. I was so heartless and unmoved by the sacrifice Jesus made for me, the decision he made to cover all my sins and give me access to the Father.
None of this clicked until one day I had a real encounter with God. It was almost like God himself came to touch my heart and allowed me to start seeing the power of his unfailing love in my life. How he has kept me all these years.
God began to show me that his love for me is infinite, strong, and unchanging, that even in all my mess HE loves me. He always has and always will. He showed me how he sees every tear I shed, every moment I feel sad, every moment I want to give up, every moment I feel afraid… he sees, (Psalm 139:1-18) and he is right there with me…. strengthening me, empowering me through the Holy Spirit and he is doing the same for YOU!
Have you ever been through something that should have killed you, that should have made you insane or that should have caused you to become numb but somehow you overcame, somehow you lived. Somehow you have a sound mind, and you found joy and peace?
That is God's presence in your life holding you together and keeping you from drifting with the wind. Trust me, we cannot endure this life without God's strength and grace.
Has God ever told you to go back to a situation that made no sense to go back to? That’s what he told Hagar when he instructed her to go back to her mistress even though the mistress was being abusive. God told Hagar to go back because he had a plan that exceed the plot Sarai herself brewed up. God had a plan to bring descendants to Abraham (Abram at this point in the story) as HE had promised; even though Sarai and Abraham took it upon themselves to try and make God’s promise come to pass quicker.
Be honest with yourself, how many times have we gone ahead of God trying to produce results only he can produce and then get upset when the outcome is not what we expected?
Even in these situations, God still sees you and HE still remains faithful to his word. Unfortunately, Hagar was a pawn in Sarai’s plan, but in God’s eyes she became part of the equation. God still was going to work it out according to the plan he had in place…So, sometimes we are pawns in other people’s mess ups (like generational curses for instance (a whole other topic) but in the same way God showed up to Hagar he shows up to remind you that HE sees you and has a plan… God is so good regardless of what we do, how we feel, or regardless of what we think about HIM....he is GOOD.
Also, I want you to know that what the enemy meant for evil God works it out for your good. Those things could not destroy you (although they may have hurt) because there is a God who sees you and will strengthen you to endure. People may overlook you, your family may overlook you, employers may overlook you, friends may overlook you, but God will always see you. If his eyes are on a small sparrow bird, how much more are his eyes on you, his creation, his children?
The hard part about living this life for God is knowing that trials will come, but that’s also the good part because if you know trials will come, then you can better understand that what’s happening around you do not limit God from being God in your life.
God is with you in the storm as much as he is with you when everything is going great. It may seem like everyone else is being blessed except you, but don’t you know that what God is doing on the inside of you is much more important than any material thing he could bless you with.
Just because chaos is breaking loose around you doesn’t mean that God stops seeing you. It could mean that He knew that if he could change you then what’s going on outside wouldn’t bother you as much.
What I am learning in this season is things will happen beyond our control, some things are worse than others, but how God changes you in the midst of the storm is something that will help you grow for a purpose far bigger than the current moment. Sometimes we have to see the bigger picture.
God predestined you, which means there is already a plan for your life that surpasses your understanding. A plan where God promised to give you a hope and a future and to not harm you (Jeremiah 29:11). Trials will come, and we may not understand why, but what I hope you do learn is that God is always on your side and if God is for you, who can be against you? (Romans 8:31)
God says in 1 Peter 4:12-13 “12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.”
This life is hard, that is a statement I will not sugar coat, but there is joy in being in God and knowing that in all HIS splendor that HE sees you, He cares, and he has a beautiful plan just for YOU. Stop comparing your life to others because what God has for you is for YOU. There is enough of God to go around 1 million times, he is vast and deep, and he wants to give his pure love to you. HE wants to strengthen and mold you.
You can’t mature without passing some tests and going through some trials. So, if you’re too busy looking at how God moves in everyone else’s lives you will miss how personally, passionately, and intimately he is moving in your life.
Take a moment to look back over your life and begin to give God thanks for where he has brought you from. You’re not where you use to be, and you are alive to see another day, rejoice in God’s goodness even when you don’t understand.
The trials you face today, do not come close to the glory that will be revealed in you. Let God strengthen you and empower to endure whatever it is your currently facing and begin to see HIM in all his love, power, and Grace.
Lastly, I pray that God’s pursuit for you becomes evident in your life, even in the midst of your trial that you see HIM because HE surely sees you.
Sincerely, T'keyah
